Allow replacement of asset references in Matrix

It would be great to have the ability to "replace" one referenced asset ID with another asset ID, both system wide as well as via a chosen root node. Alternatively, having this be possible via the search and replace tool would also work (my testing of this wasn't successful).
We have many instances where we have an asset referenced many many times throughout content, and for one reason or another, we need to replace it with a different asset. Current process is to access "references" to find and then manually update the linking. Having the ability to do this in an automated/bulk way would save an enormous amount of time.

Hello. I just had a scenario where we change the 'book a call' page on the site - I needed to create an entirely new page then ensure all links to the old book a call page were going to the new page. I created a redirect and unpublished the old page, but realised that the redirect was not working for most of the links because of the way the link was added on the page; the links were directing to a matrix asset and not 'external URL'. I may be missing something and there might have been an easier way to do this, but this took me a few hours to fix.
It would be great if there was a way to redirect an asset - is that possible? So, in a single action, we would change any links to the old page asset and replace it with the new one.
